Roberto Anselmi

Monteforte Roberto Anselmi has become one of the icons of Italian wine. Something of a maverick, he withdrew his wines from the auspices of the Soave DOC and now produces wines simply labeled IGT. This decision was made purely for wine making reasons, as he believed that the regions new wine making laws only served to undermine production of high quality wines. The outstanding quality of Roberto's range is a testimony to his decision. The Anselmi winery was founded in 1948 by Roberto Anselmi's father. A native of the area, Roberto Anselmi felt an emotional as well as professional commitment to tapping the previously unrealized potential of the wine he grew up with. Over the past decade, he has been quietly revolutionizing the way Anselmi Soave is made and marketed, transforming it from a pleasant, 'easy-drinking' wine into a premium white that has been favourably compared to fine French Chablis.
