Seresin Estate

Seresin EstateMarlborough

Michael Seresin is an extremely successful cinematographer as well as being the proud proprietor of a wine estate which has quickly become one of the best and most highly regarded wineries in New Zealand. Established in 1996 the aim at Seresin has been to grow grapes and make wine in the most natural way possible and because of this Brian Bicknell the winemaker has adapted organic principles since its inception but more intensely from 1998 onwards. This is not for marketing purposes, but purely out of the beliefs and principles long held by Michael Seresin himself.

The entrance to Seresin Estate is marked by distinctive monolithic rocks with a bold copper coloured handprint. The hand image is the estate symbol and is based on an actual print of owner Michael Seresin's hand. This is the symbol that adorn's the wine label on all the estate wines.

Seresin Estate Chardonnay 2005 - Marlborough, New Zealand
Bin No. SERESINEC5
Price: £12.95
The fruit for the Seresin Estate chardonnay was handled as gently as possible, and after picking was hand sorted before being whole bunch pressed and then sent straight to barrel. Each parcel was fermented separately in French Oak using only indigenous yeasts. Following primary fermentation the wine went through malolatic fermentation, which occurred naturally in barrel. The wine was then blended and has been lightly filtered and bottled without ..

Bin No. SERESINPG6
Price: £15.85
Fruit for the 2006 Seresin Pinot Gris comes from the ‘Home’ vineyard which surrounds the Seresin winery. Fifteen different parcels of Pinot Gris were hand picked and sorted before being whole bunch pressed and then lightly settled. Both selected and indigenous yeasts were used for fermentation, which was maintained at a slow rate by low temperatures to enhance the primary fruit characters. The wine was transferred to older French barriques to fin ..

Price: £13.50
Fruit for the Seresin 2004 Riesling is harvested by hand from ten year old vines on the upper terraces surrounding the winery. At the winery the Riesling grapes are hand-sorted to ensure that no Botrytis-affected berries were included in the press. The fruit was then whole bunch pressed to ensure that no phenolic or bitter characteristics were extracted. After pressing the juice was settled until it was crystal clear and then fermented through to ..

Seresin Sauvignon Blanc 2006 - Marlborough, New Zealand
Bin No. SERESINSB6
Price: £11.00
The 2006 Sauvignon Blanc from Seresin is made from 95% Sauvignon Blanc and 5% Semillon grapes. Twenty different parcels of fruit from different vineyard blocks were whole-bunch pressed and then fermented separately so that the winemaker had a greater range of options when creating the final blend. Indigenous yeasts and a selection of cultured yeasts were utilised for fermentation, for added complexity and texture. A small percentage of the blend, ..

Hawke's Bay

Nestled at the foot of the three crested 'Roy's Hill', nine miles south west of Hastings in Hawke's Bay is Trinity Hill.

The winery is a partnership between John Hancock, Robert and Robyn Wilson (owners of London's Bleeding Heart and The Don restaurants) and Aucklanders Trevor and Hanne Janes; three founding families hence the name "Trinity Hill".
