The Vina Collada is a new Rioja cuvée developed by Marqués de Riscal, pioneers of classic Rioja winemaking and one of Spain's leading wine producers, which offer's great value for money.
All the grapes for Vina Collada are harvested by hand and yields are tightly controlled. Vinification takes place in stainless steel vats for ten days where the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation. All of the wine is then aged in oak for up to four months in ten year old barrels prior to another three months bottle ageing.
The resulting red wine is clear with a deep cherry red and violet hue. The nose has a medium intensity with youthful aromas of strawberries and red cherry. The Vina Collada palate is medium bodied with attractive ripe fruit flavours and a delicious savoury character.
This is an extremely versatile red wine ideally suited for everyday drinking and perfect with Spanish chorizo, and mild cheeses, but also a great match with pasta and grilled meats.
