The Henschke Innes Vineyard is 100% Pinot Gris grown by David and Annette Innes at Littlehampton in the Adelaide Hills.
Littlehampton, recently rediscovered as a grape growing area, lies on the eastern side of the Adelaide Hills. Viticulture was first established in the Adelaide Hills in 1839 by John Barton Hack near Mount Barker, just 5km from Littlehampton.
Pinot Gris, called Tokay d’Alsace in France, Grauburgunder in Germany and Pinot Grigio in Italy, has its origins in France. It has become a highly regarded white wine variety around the world.
This wonderful white wine is pale green-gold in colour. The nose is fragrant, with sweet, delicate, complex aromas of ripe nectarine and stone-fruits with pear skin, honeysuckle and hints of lychee.
The palate is full and rich, the ripe fruit flavours leading onto fresh, crisp, chunky textured layers of flavour with a vibrant finish.
Whitehaven wines was formed in 1993 by Greg and Sue White, and winemaker, Simon Waghorn. Their aim was to establish a winery in Marlborough producing premium quality varietal wines.
