The Amalaya Malbec is a red wine produced from vineyards at Colomé situated between 1700 and 2500 metres above sea level. In the vineyards drip irrigation is used and all the grapes are harvested by hand with yields kept to 7 tonnes per hectare.

At the winery 75% of the grape juice underwent malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, while the remaining 25% was fermented in French oak barrels. After fermentation has completed 30% of the wine was then aged in French oak.

The 2008 Amalaya Malbec blend from Colomé is made predominately from Malbec (55%) but also contains, Cabernet Sauvignon (25%), Syrah (10%) Tannat (5%) and Bornarda (5%) grapes.

This is a deep red wine with tinges of purple. On the nose the wine displays summer berry aromas of raspeberry and cherry with subtle vanilla notes coming from the barrel ageing. On the palate the Amalaya is spicy and intense with mild rounded tannins enhancing a long persistent finish.
