Henschke Keyneton Estate Euphonium 2004 - Eden Valley, South Australia

Henschke Keyneton Estate Euphonium 2004 - Eden Valley, South Australia
Bin No. HENSCHKE04
Price: £25.00
The Barossa hills village of Keyneton became a musical and cultural focus for early settlers, such as the Henschke Family Brass Band and the Henschke Winery. This brass band survived generations and featured wonderful wind instruments such as a B flat euphonium, cornet and E flat clarinet.

The Henschke B flat euphonium, a large brass wind instrument, was made by the famous Zimmermann factory in Leipzig, Germany, in the late 19th Century. It has a deep amber coloured
lacquer and is adorned with decorative metalwork on the body and slides not seen on more recent instruments; furthermore it has a warmer and more subtle tone quality than its more modern counterparts.

The Keyneton Estate Euphonium 2004 is a red wine blend dominated by the Shiraz grape (40%), but supported with additional portions of Cabernet Sauvignon (25%); Merlot (25%) and Cabernet Franc (10%) grape varieties.

The Henschke Keyneton Estate red wine is deep crimson in colour with a bouquet of spicy sweet plum, blackberry and cassis with hints of cedar and tar.

The palate is sweet, ripe and full with great intensity and structure. Fleshy in texture, the wine has excellent depth and complexity with subtle powdery tannins.
