After years of continual experimentation, the vineyards of ‘Asinone’ were identified as holding the best potential for quality grapes amongst the vineyards of Poliziano.
The Vino Nobile di Montepulciano ‘Vigna Asinone’ is now the highest expression of their quality production. Produced in the best years from 100% Sangiovese grapes it has an unmistakable style and distinct character yet it retains an international appeal. Almost opaque in colour, this fine Italian red wine has an exceptional nose of spice, fruits and new oak. On the palate the Vigna Asinone is complex and refined with great integration between fruit, oak and tannin.
Asinone is only produced in the best years, and the number of bottles depends on the quality of the vintage but on average this is about 30,000 – 45,000 bottles. The year’s in which it is not bottled, Asinone is “downgraded” to basic Vino Nobile di Montepluciano.
