Voerzio’s La Serra Barolo is made from a single vineyard of just 1.5 hectares grown at an altitude of 320 metres. The vines are fertilised manually using exclusively organic substances (composted manure with vegetable substances) and harvest is by hand.
After fermentation the wine is aged in wood. Part is in Slovenian casks of 15hl and 20hl for a period of 20 to 24 months. The remainder is aged in barriques of which 50% is new oak for 18 months.
The final Barolo blend is very rich with an excellent colour. On the nose the perfumed Nebbiolo displays classic blackberry, raspberry and liquorice notes. The palate has excellent structure and well balanced acidity that compliments the rounded fruit flavours which have a long perisient finish.
