The Chianti Classico is Castello di Brolio’s top wine; embodying the refinement and elegant characteristics associated with the Brolio tradition. First produced in the spectacular vintage of 1997, this is much more than merely a traditional Riserva; following the French model of classification, it could be considered a ‘grand vin’.

Made from a selection of the best grapes available, the blend is 95% Sangiovese, 3% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Merlot which are aged in barrique for about 18 months, with further age in bottle before its release.

Concentrated and deep ruby in colour on the nose this wine has a herbal complexity with leather and tar notes. On the palate there is plenty of rich red berry fruit flavours with a lovely savoury edge. Firm and tannic this is definitely a wine for the long-haul, yet will drink happily now with roast rack of lamb, grilled steaks or braised pork as examples.

This Castello di Brolio Chianti Classico was awarded a Tre Bicchieri in the Gamberro Rosso, the ultimate accolade in Italy's leading wine guide, which is published annualy.

Demand for this wine is always high and as such stock is limited.
