The Block Nine is quintessential cool climate Shiraz selected from a small number of rows from the oldest Shiraz vines at Forest Hill. All grapes are hand pruned and carefully selected. The 2004 release is elegant in style with significant depth and intensity. From the long growing season and cool nights of the Great Southern, the wine carries aromas of spice, dark fruits and subtle French oak. The palate has considerable fruit concentration, but has finesse and direction. It is textured and generous with dark fruit character and has extraordinary length. The Block Nine Shiraz is certainly approachable now, but will improve with five to eight years in the cellar. Awarded 95 points by James Halliday this wine is strictly limited.
