Barolo

The style of Aldo Vajra's wines - elegant, perfumed and balanced - is attributable in part to the position of his 44 hectares of vineyards, at about 400 metres above sea level in the village of Vergne, in the commune of Barolo. This high altitude, close to the western boundry of the Barolo zone, results in wines that lack the power found in those from Serralunga or Monforte. However, thanks to Aldo's skill in the vineyard and his deft touch in the winery, the wines have a sinewy texture, a Burgundian intensity and a purity of flavour that makes them stand out in Barolo.
