The La Montessa Rioja wine from Palacios Remondo is made from a blend of 40% Garnacha, 40% Tempranillo, 10% Mazuelo and 10% Graciano grapes all of which are sourced from the family’s own vineyards in the La Rioja at approximately 550m above sea-level. The vines are approaching twenty years in age now and are yielding some fantastic fruit. Green harvesting techniques are adopted to maximise the fruits potential and all harvesting is done by hand. The wine is aged for 14 months in barrels of which 75% is French oak with the remaining 25% American oak - Only 10% of the oak used is new, with the remaining 90% split equally between, one, two and three year old wood. The final wine is bottled without filtration and results in a silky well balanced wine with a wonderful purity of fruit. This Rioja has proved to be one of our most popular wines from Spain.
