Gavi is one of the most fashionable white wine regions in Italy, and the Cortese grape rules. The DOCG of Gavi del commune di Gavi lies on chalky soil and provides the perfect terroir for this grape, producing minerally citrus wines with elegance and finesse. Bergaglio’ s ‘La Minaia’ vineyards lie within this commune and it is important not to confuse the wines with the generally inferior basic Gavi.

The vines at Bergaglio are planted at an altitude of 300m above-sea-level with a westerly exposure. The average age of the vines are roughly 30 years old, which are planted at a density of 3800 per hectare, making use of the guyot training system. The vines are not irrigated and are manually harvested. This Gavi is made from 100% Cortese an indigenous Italian white grape variety.
