Fontanafredda

FontanafreddaPiemonte

The estate of Fontanafredda has come a long way since the days when it was the hunting lodge to the late King Emmanuel and the home to his mistress the Bella Rosa Rosin. Danilo Drocco took over the winemaking reins over five years ago and the results have revolutionised the estate. New labels and a more confident presentation in the wines, reflect not only the current tastes, but also the character of the wonderful area they hail from.

The wines of the Fontanafredda estate are now presented in two different ranges, Le Selezioni and Tenimenti.

The Selezioni wines are effectively Fontanafredda’s classic wines, sourced from the finest vineyard sites in Piemonte, they are the cornerstone of the Fontanafredda portfolio and remain true to the traditional winemaking styles of this famous region.

The Tenimenti range of wines encapsulate the new dynamic face of this historic winery, for whilst they retain the best attributes of the region, they also marry together more modern winemaking practices, for example more new oak and micro oxygenation to help fix colour and increase primary fruit flavours.

Dog Point Vineyard

Marlborough

James Healy and Ivan Sutherland left Cloudy Bay in 2003 after many years service as winemaker and vineyard manager respectively, to make wine from Ivan’s Dog Point Vineyard.

The name Dog Point is derived from the scrub covered hill, overlooking the Wairau Plains, designated by the early European settlers as a place where shepherds’ dogs who had got lost, or wandered off, took refuge. They
