Wine Finder:

Since the opening of the Golan Heights winery in the early 1980s, Israeli wine has evolved quite remarkably from realtively undrinkable offerings to those that are now truly world-class.

This has been brought about primarily because there are now sufficient large companies producing fine terroir-specific wines and an increasing number of small, quality-focussed boutique wineries pushing the overall quality to higher levels.

This part of the Levant could easily go onto a bigger and brighter future if only some resemblance of peace could be guaranteed in the Middle East.
