Rice Dishes
Like pasta when it comes to choosing a suitable wine for rice dishes, it's not really the rice you are matching but the sauce or additional ingredients served as part of the dish. With this in mind it is worth considering the basic food and wine matching principles which can be found here. However, we do have some tips you may like to consider for certain rice dishes as follows.
Risottos’ and Paella are very popular dishes and serve well matched alongside light, crisp dry white wines. Good sparkling wine is also a good option for many of these
rice dishes. If you are considering a seafood risotto or paella then a good rosé is worth trying.
For any type of Asian food, Chinese, Thai, Indian or otherwise, then please consider taking a look at our Asian and Spicy recommendations here.
If your dish has a couscous base paired up with some spicy Moroccan flavours or a lamb tagine then it is worth considering a robust red from either Spain (Ribera del Duero
perhaps), or Portugal.
