Yering Station Pinot Noir Rosé Extra Dry 2008 - Victoria, Australia - The Yering Station Pinot Noir Rosé is made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes grown exclusively on Yering Stations own vineyards. After careful grape selection in the vineyard the grapes are transported to the winery where they are given 12 - 36 hours contact with skins and then pressed. The juice is transferred directly to French oak barriques for fermentation where the wine is aged on lees, whilst a full natural malo-lactic fermentation occurs.The final Yering Station Pinot Noir Rosé is light ruby in colour with intense raspberry, cherry and rose aromas. On the palate the wine is rich with fine tannins and surprising depth and length. The complex flavours of red berries, sage and spice make this wine a perfect complement to a wide array of food. Planeta Cometa 2008 - Sicily, Italy - The Planeta Cometa is a white wine made from 100% Fiano grapes; this is an indigenous local white grape variety that is now starting to receive worldwide acclaim and many Italian wine specialists believe it will have as great an impact on the wine-buying public as Pinot Grigio has done in the past few years. Once at the Planeta winery the Fiano grapes are crushed and de-stemmed and the juice is then clarified through settling overnight. It is then fermented in stainless steel tanks, where it is kept on its lees for five months before light fining and bottling.The final Planeta Cometa wine is deep straw yellow in colour with a green hue. On the nose the wine is intense and full of character, with integrated aromatic notes of citrus and tropical fruit. On the palate it has plenty of character with elegant mineral elements. The acidity is well integrated with the fruit, making for a harmonious whole which is without a doubt one of the finest examples of this variety to be found anywhere.
