Over the last couple of decades Californian wine-makers have managed to fashion some of the world’s finest: Cabernet Sauvignon wine, Merlot wine, Zinfandel wine and Chardonnay’s, by rejecting the powerful overblown fruit styles of previous generations and opting instead for wines with greater finesse and elegance. 	J. Lohr Riverstone Chardonnay 2004 Bin No. LOHRIVER04 Price: £11.50 The grapes for this wine were all harvested from the Greenfield vineyards in Monterey. The wine was 100% barrel fermented in a combination of French and American oak, 40% of the wine underwent malolactic fermentation in barrel. 	J. Lohr Seven Oaks Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 Bin No. LOHROAKS04 Price: £11.50 The grapes for this wine are hand harvested from the vineyards in Paso Robles. After fermentation in stainless steel the wine is aged for 12 to 16 months in a combination of American and French oak barrels.
