France - Bordeaux
Blessed with an almost-perfect viticultural situation on the west coast of France, Bordeaux is probably the most well-known wine region in France and famous the world over for its enviable château-based classification system. There are approximately 7,000 chateaux spread over an area of some 300,000 acres. It is a fact that the great wines of Bordeaux (to be fair this is only about 1% of those actually producing wines!) set the benchmark for which others aim to aspire - although they perhaps would not openly admit it in public, many a winemaker in the ‘new-world’ ultimately wishes to emulate the top chateaux of Bordeaux in style when crafting their own individual wines! For lovers of ‘First-Growths’ and the like, I would recommend that you perhaps purchase these wines from one of the respected fine-wine brokers based in London, who will happily cater to your needs and take large sums of money from you! However here at Hic! you will find some little gems which we have had great pleasure in tracking down and equally have great pleasure in selling onto our customers without their need to take out a second-mortgage for just a couple of cases!

Price: £9.00

| Amancaya is a blend based on the elegant texture of Cabernet Sauvignon (45%) enhanced by the fruit of the indigenous Argentinean Malbec(55%).
The conditions in spring and beginning of summer were excellent for the 2004 vintage. The weather in late summer was very hot and dry, with a strong ‘Sonda’ wind blowing from the Andes, which arrested the ripening process on certain plots of Cabernet Sauvignon at lower altitude. The Malbec and the Cabernet .. |
