Chile
More than 2,500 miles long and at an average of just 110 miles wide, Chile has an enviable geographic and climatic diversity ideally suited for interesting and varied grape-growing. Combined with arguably the world’s most perfect grape growing conditions - reliable sunshine, no rain, and disease free vineyards - it has (until recently) been considered, that perhaps Chilean wine-makers have had it a little too easy to make wine that really excels on the international stage.
Yes there have been literally thousands of gallons of soft, easy and reliable value wines flowing from their shores, yet there did appear to be a distinct lack of wine that truly reflected the diversity Chile has the potential to offer. Thankfully, in recent years a new generation of winemaker have made the move towards a search for ‘terroir’, matching the grape variety to the best site for growing it. As a result the development of premium quality wines and expression of regionality are now explored with great passion; leading to the development of new vineyards and the production of some superb wines that really do excel.
If you would like to find out more about Chilean wine why not explore the Wines of Chile website. You can find out more about the Chilean wine regions, wine varieties, wineries, and wine routes, plus a whole host of additional facts and information about Chile.
The Hic! Chilean range of wines on offer has come to reflect the change in wine production; encompassing as it does, the many varied styles the country now has to offer.
The excellent varietal styles from the well respected Montgras stable in the Colchagua Valley continue to offer our customers great value for money, the Reserva and Ninquén wines especially.
The Maipo region home to the superb new range from Vina Chocalan and the outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon of Intriga confirm this region as a source of extremely fine red wine. The relatively new Leyda Valley home to our Amaral wines confirms the progress Chile has made in seeking ‘terroir’ ; proving as it does to be an excellent region for the white grape varieties of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, whilst the Pinot Noir grape is also performing very well in Leyda too.
I am confident that our range of Chilean wines for sale online will have something to suit all palates and budgets, for all occasions!
