Soleus Organic Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 - Montgras, Chile - Conscious of the importance of the terroir and caring for our environment, Viña MontGras have developed the Soleus range of Organic wines. The grapes for Soleus wines come from the Los Guindos Vineyard, located in the area of Melipilla, the western area of the Maipo Valley, about 50 km from Santiago. The vineyards were planted between 1998 and 1999 and have been managed organically from the beginning. As this is a relatively new area for wine grapes and there is no possibility of pests coming from contaminated neighbouring vineyards, the transition of growing organically has been easier and without sacrificing the quality of the grapes. The Soleus Organic Cabernet Sauvignon is made from 100% handpicked organically grown Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. After vinification 20% of the wine is aged in oak from approximately 7 months. The final blend of Soleus Organic Cabernet Sauvignon is bright red in colour displaying ripe black fruit and toasty oak aromas. On the palate the wine is rich and concentrated layered with dark berried fruit, supple tannins, vanilla and toast from the ageing oak. This wine was awareded 86 Points in the Descorchados, Patricio Tapia Chilean Wine Guide 2009, Chile and obtained a Silver Medal at the International Wine & Spirit Competition 2008, U.K.Great value everyday drinking red wine from Chile.
