Prosecco | Italy
Prosecco is an extremely popular Italian sparkling wine made from Glera grapes and is often produced in the fully sparkling (spumante) or lightly sparkling (frizzante) varieties. It may only be produced in the permitted regions of Veneto and Friuli Venezia in North East Italy and only as a DOCG or DOC wine.
Prosecco is usually made by adopting the Charmat (Tank) method, in which the secondary fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, making it less expensive to produce and a popular substitute for Champagne. Prosecco is used as the main ingredient of the Bellini cocktail.
