Hic! - We're Serious About Wine. Welcome to Hic! My name is Andy Saxon, the proprietor of Hic!, and for the past fifteen years I've been sourcing and supplying fine wines and spirits to some of the most notable hotels and restaurants in Yorkshire and beyond. After spending my formative years in the hospitality industry, I set up my first wine shop in Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire in 1995 followed soon after with a further shop in Ledston, West Yorkshire. The wine shop in Boroughbridge was sold in 2004 to Nick Chadwick, who now runs the successful Winearray wine shop, leaving me more time to spend with my young son's and concentrate on running Hic! from the family home in Ledston.  Dismayed at the continual standardisation of boring brands on the shelves of the supermarkets and their desire to turn a wonderful agricultural product of true artisan nature into an industrial homogenised one (through heavy discounts and high profile promotions), I realised that it would be the real wine drinkers (who seek genuine variety and originality in their wines) to ultimately suffer at the hands of the 'big four'! Consequently it is the premise of Hic! to source individual wines, champagne and spirits, which offer exceptional value and quality right across their respective ranges. Over the past fifteen years I have continually sourced, tasted and evaluated my range of wines and the producers who craft them; and with more than twenty years valuable experience in the hospitality industry I have come to appreciate that customer requirements and satisfaction are the most important aspect of a successful business. So whether you seek wine for a dinner party, a special occasion (weddings, birthday parties, anniversaries, etc), or just simply to enjoy in the comfort of your own home by oneself, Hic! will have just the wine to suit you. Unlike many other online wine websites, it has always been my intention to provide up-to-date information about the area the wines come from, the producers who craft them and the current vintage of the wine; hopefully you will find this dedication to detail useful and aid you in your decision making process.
